Children's Book

How far can your imagination take you?? How far can you challenge the imagination of your audience?? In the Children's Book project, students create fresh fictional stories that encourgae students to enrapture the audience imagination. Students learn of the purpose between text and illustrations when creating a children's story. Students during this project will take concepts of writing and organization in order to create a meaningful narrative. During this project, students will:

* Organize and craft their writing skills using inferences and implications

* Write with intent toward a specific audience (3rd and 4th grade Book Buddies)

* Integrate knowledge of literary devices studied in LA class and through #FilmFriday

* Use common elements of writing development and process to reflect, edit, and revise personal work

* Create meaningful illustrations that coordinate with their written text

* Utilize alternate mediums of art in order to create illustrations (not just crayons and markers)

Children's Book

In addition to the creative writing piece, students will also assess children's stories on a deeper level. Examples of those assessment sheets can be found here. The assessments help the students make the connections between written text and visual images.
